The course will introduce an easy-to-learn art form, Pastel Art (Japanese Pastel Nagomi Art) for Seniors. The therapeutic nature of Pastel Art encourages soothing of emotions, calming of the mind, and relieve stress. Techniques & skills learnt can be applied to create paintings or decorative cards.

  • Acquire a good understanding and knowledge of this form of art, Pastel Art (Japanese Pastel Nagomi Art)
  • Connect with the colours and enjoy the therapeutic of this free expression form of painting.
  • Apply simple, yet unique way of painting to create a gentle soft, hear-warming and inspiring paintings.
  • Apply the process of this form of painting to calm and relax mind, enhance self-esteem and helps one to be more positive.
  • Apply the skills and techniques learnt to create art pieces and beautiful decorative cards as gifts.

Course Facilitator

Ms Pearl Tang

Ms Pearl Tang is a Japanese Pastel Nagomi Art (JPNA) Certified Trainer. She has great passion in art and craft creations and its activities. Her interests include crochets, knitting, decoupage, Airdry clay sculpture, Jewellery-making, Crepe paper flowers, Soft-Pastel painting, etc. Pearl is a certified facilitator and trainer by WDA–ACTA (Advanced Certificate Training to Adults). She has over 15 years of experience in training and education. She is currently a part-time teacher, teaching business studies, English and basic computer skills. Pearl is active in conducting art and craft lessons at various Senior Activity Centres (SACs), namely, VWOS, grassroots organisations including ad-hoc community events.
